The DS Indoor Cricket Centre (DSICC) project has officially commenced as a major infrastructure initiative aimed at strengthening cricket at DS Senanayake College and creating modern player development opportunities for future generations.
Launched in June 2026, the project is designed to establish a modern indoor cricket training facility at the DS Senanayake College New Grounds, adjacent to the existing practice nets. The facility is expected to provide year-round training access, helping DS cricketers continue structured practice regardless of weather conditions.
The proposed centre will include two full-length indoor practice lanes, synthetic cricket pitches, professional bowling machines, changing rooms, toilet facilities, and supporting facilities for players and coaching staff. The project also includes plans for a dedicated Cricket Technical Centre, which will support video analysis, performance review sessions, technical coaching, mental fitness programmes, and indoor fitness activities.
The DSICC project carries the theme “Building Champions for Tomorrow”, reflecting its long-term vision to create a professional training environment that helps young cricketers develop their skills, confidence, discipline, and performance standards.
The project is planned as a seven-month development programme, with a target completion date of December 2026. The total estimated project budget is LKR 40 million, with LKR 3.5 million already raised and a remaining funding requirement of LKR 36.5 million.
The project is governed by a dedicated committee comprising school representatives, Old Boys’ Association members, technical professionals, and distinguished members of the DS community. The committee has emphasized transparency and accountability, with regular updates, donation reports, expenditure reports, and progress updates to be made available to stakeholders.
